Other Characters: Mordecai
Name: FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan (please, call him York.)
From: Deadly Premonition
Appearance:
Age: Looks to be about early 30’s.
Gender: Male
Personality: York’s personality is hard to pin down. He’s eccentric and a bit socially awkward, being able to talk about grisly murder scenes with a smile on his face and requiring things to be up to his odd standards (such as everybody calling him York). But beyond the quirky exterior, he’s a motivated professional, which shines through in his being an FBI agent. Under pressure, York is able to take control of a situation, using any authority he’s been given to make sure the problem is resolved, be it a petty squabble, a mundane request, or an overarching incident.
When not on detail, though, he’s laid back and affable, even with the quirks. While it may be hard to warm up to him, he’s certainly able to make friends... even if his exacting culinary specifications, conversations with imaginary people, and constant chatter about 80’s movies are off-putting.
Backstory: Not much is known about young Francis York Morgan, except for the fact that his father committed suicide after killing his mother, leaving the young boy scarred and emotionally damaged. It’s theorized that, through the trauma, he created his imaginary companion “Zach” to cope with the mental stresses of the past.
Fast forward to York in his adult life, now a Special Agent for the FBI, traveling the nation on the heels of a specific strain of murders, known as the Red Seed Murders. Each one, strewn about the country, involves young women being killed in grisly manners, their tongues bitten off and red seeds stuffed down their throats. His latest assignment brings him to Greenvale, WA, where another victim has just appeared...
[EXTREME SPOILERS! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU PLAN ON PLAYING DEADLY PREMONITION!!!: Francis York Morgan isn’t Francis York Morgan after all. In reality, he is Francis Zach Morgan, with York having been created due to trauma and becoming the dominant personality. All this time, he’s deluded himself to thinking that he is York, while throughout the game, it’s been Zach interacting with everybody. It’s... a bit complicated, but for simplicity’s sake I’m eschewing the whole “everybody knew it was Zach and you’re just playing through York’s eyes” thing. The citizens interact with York, plain and simple.]
Moral Standing: Lawful good. He’s an FBI agent, after all.
Dreams: To clear up the Red Seeds murder cases.
Fears: Being unable to complete his mission, losing those near him.
Extra: York is... slightly psychic/clairvoyant, in that he’s able to “profile”, or gain hazy flashes of the past or future. With concrete evidence and physical objects, the images clear up. It’s for this reason that he’s such a talented FBI agent, being able to recreate the moment of the crime with this ability. As well, he can use it in a sort of divination, being able to gain clues and fortunes from his coffee.
Note: York is going to be taken from in the middle of the canon, before he has solved the case.
